Bounty Hunter 10" coil

New member
Heya!

Has anyone used the BH 10" coil with the Time Ranger? Does it make any difference? I purchased one for my Time Ranger but haven't used it yet because I don't really understand what it does differently from the standard 8" coil. My Time Ranger has kept me busy digging each time I have gone swingin' at nearby parks, school playgrounds, and lawns (with permission of course). I am accumulating a quite large collection of junk metal but have also found around 170 coins, a couple of toy cars, a couple of necklace charms, and two rings (one of which is a ladies size 8 sterling silver). So, I am not having trouble finding things and am just curious as to under what circumstances I would need to use the larger coil.

Thanks!

Te 10"coil goes a couple inches deeper and covers more ground quicker.the 8" coil goes into the ground like a V
to a point, the 10" goes into the ground like a U for wider search, however the 10" is almost useless in high trash areas.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Wishful-thinker! That does help. So I most likely won't see a difference in the areas I have been hunting......lots of pull tabs, cans, etc. Maybe I will try the 10" coil at the river on some sand bars or in the woods.

I have a 4, 8 and 10 inch coil for my Sharpshooter II. It took some getting used to the 10 coil, it works best when I go to old homesteads and fields. Trash runs you crazy. I used 4 in trashy areas and tot lots. The 8 covers the rest.

i use mine for relic hunting in all metal mode. really goes deep that way. it is made for cache hunting as well. looking for coins in disc mode it will get you an extra inch or two, but in no motion all metal mode the difference will be in feet depending on the size of the object, assuming its large. the time ranger is a great machine, wish i didn't sell mine a couple of years ago.
