g'day fellas.

im thinking about to purchacing a BHT4. it seems to be the best value, entry model detector out there. actually im going to buy 2. one for my younger brother, he's 28.

my main interest is coins, jewlery and an occaisional sojourn for gold. the thing is, i dont mind paying a little extra, if it will make a BIG difference. my questions are...

how much does one have to spend on a unit, to make a bigger difference to the performance of the BHT4?

will the extra $ be worth it?

will i, as a novice, appreciate the difference?

thanks!

Hi Peter, in all honesty you will find all that you ever need with the T4. You don't need to pay big bucks for another detector(s). Mate the T4's will find anything the other units can, at least 95% anyway. I've got some pic posts on this forum with some of my finds, most found with the T4! $20,000 to $30,000 worth in 2 yrs, you can't go wrong. Just use the settings I recommend if you want to get the best out of this unit!!! Live your dreams! HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

everyone has a preference and I like machines with TID (target identification) some machines work well and others not so well. Some people like the tones or sounds a machine makes, depending on the sound, it gives them an idea of what the target might be, this method in my opinion is on its way out. Do you want a machine that you can ground balance manually or do you want one that comes with a factory preset GB. Ground balance is a good feature because you can use your detector pretty much anywhere you like. The lighter the machine the better for me and power consumption is also important. You don't want to be going through bucket loads of batteries to support your detecting habit . So my advice to you is to really do some research into what type of detector thats going to suit your needs and not the brand. There are so many good machines out there on the market and you have come to a great forum to help you out. I'm sure whichever way you decide to go your gonna have a blast with this hobby! I know this didnt answer your question about the BHT4 but just keep your eyes and mind open.
Cheers!
