With the new 3030 being released, I doubt if it will be as good as the 70/705 for relics!!! If you like all of the "Flute" music that's fine, I've tried the FBS machines and I have always came back to the Xterra!!!!!

I have no problem with FBS on Etrac. But I must say I
favor Xterra with WOT for relics.
CTX 3030 is very interesting, but will it be as fast as Xterra 705?

OK, dumb question: What does WOT stand for?
It's the name for the Coiltek 15" Wild Orange Thing coil.

Haha...sorry for not put in more detail in my post..WOT (Coiltek 15"DD) is my favorite relic hunting coil for big fields.

Mo, I've tried them all too, Safari, Explorer and Etrac. Went back to thge Xterra 705 and don't feel I'm missing much if anything except for the soreness I used to get trying to run FBS machines for extended hunts. In my opinion, they didn't ID much better or get much better depth. For wet salt sand they would definetly be an improvement but I'm a dirthunter.

I think Etrac ID much better!!!! At least in trashy sites.Love my 705 but Etrac are a king in infested areas. But you do have to work it slooooooooow...yes..:)

Longhair: Thanks for putting me out of my misery ....

Don't worry Bill. In another of my hobbies, WOT means Wide Open Throttle.

Tried a 705 with a WOT and, it balanced pretty well.
As a reference point i, have shot hands so, am sensitive to weight too.

Put my order in today and I'm trading my 705 in Tuesday for the 3030. sorry guys, this machine is amazing. Had one in my hands last weekend.
It was a little heavier, but hey, I'm MAN enough for it. As far as the tones, they can be changed.

Hi,
Interesting ...the different peoples experieneces and take on things
And I respect all differeing views and opinions  and from some super successfull detectorists too

I found an Etrac quite a bit superior to my Xterra (the coils i have a 6" HF DD, 5x10" HF DD, standard conc. and a WOT ) on deep coins and relics
It was heavier and did take me longer to learn, tweek and fine tune the ET to my liking but once done it was superb
Its capability to see silver amongst trash helped me win some awesome coins
I just sold it to part pay for a 3030 and nearly cried posting the ET away:cry: (if I hate the 3030 I will sell it and buy another Etrac in a flash)

But if I am looking for a really comfortable days swinging I grab my good old Xterra 70...they are such a pleasure to use
and if I am looking for shallow modern coins drops i do the same ....i will NEVER sell it and have also found some great stuff with it

have a good one :)
