Can anyone help me figure out what kind of buckle this is, my uncle found. It has no visible markings, it's about 3 X 2.

Mostly used on bridles to cover the buckle. Serves a decoration purpose and also prevents the buckle tongue from snagging on brush. Also called blanket buckle cover. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
