Brass Reading

Gadget

New member
Found this ring today that read a solid 18 VDI. I can't find a karat marking on it and it looks too dark to be gold. Anyone know what brass VDI typically reads?

Gadget,

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, so its VDI would most likely be up in the clad penny range. Just because there is no K rating doesn't automatically mean it is not gold.
Get that ring tested! It falls in the right VDI range for it to be gold and not brass.

Thanks folks... I'll take it to the experts. I was thinking gold range too, but it didn't look much like the newer 14K ring I found a few weeks ago.

That is one of the prettiest rings I have seen posted. I am also thinking Black Hills Gold. That would make a great Christmas Present. I know my wife would love it. Oh which reminds me, does anyone know if we allowed to buy and sell here?
