Any Clue? 1800s plantation site.
 
My guess is with it being made from brass with countersink screw holes I say part of a skeleton key door lock or some other locking device.
 
A drawer lock. Have you scrubbed the middle part for a key hole?

The screw side would be inside. The keyhole should be on the other side.
