Braved the heat to hit a field.

Went out Monday afternoon to hit a field that just has been hayed.We had done this spot before with some good results.There is a slight hill with a small cellar hole on it that blends in and is not noticed unless you are right on top of it.I started to hunt next to the brush line that runs along the road and stayed within 10' of it.I came away with 3 old and rotted copper coins and a colonial flat button in the same condition.
Went to our club meeting last night and showed my finds to a few people and was surprised with one of the coins.Three different people picked up enough details on one to ID as a Fugio Cent.Minted 1787 and the first U.S. coin designed by Ben Franklin.You really have to look hard and at the right angle to see the details.

After some research and many Vaseline baths I got enough detail on a coin I found a few weeks back.It now turns out to be a William III farthing dating 1697-1702 and by far my oldest coin.The bust matches in size and style.Top left the letters MVS appears with a faint G appearing bottom left of bust.

are these old coppers usually that far gone when you find them around there? Must be quite a thrill finding something that old even in the condition those are.
