Pain
The painful cycle has reared it's ugly head again. The last few days have been a little rough but he started his new pain regiment last night and hopefully that will keep it in check.
Brian's previous pain regiment was based on his weight but he has since gained 40 pounds. Some of his meds were increased and we are investigating adding two more meds to the regiment. We'll see his pediatrician next week to discuss the benefits and side effects of these new drugs.
The Trach
Last night we changed Brian's trach for the first time since "the incident". Carol and I both were as nervous as the very first time we changed his trach without a medical professional nearby. Fortunately, it went smoothly. We still don't understand why we had the problem last week!
A Note This Morning
Brian was banging on his side table with a cup wanting assistance. When I walked into the room his head was down in his pillows but his left hand was outstretched for me to hold. He looked up at me and big, wet tears rolled down his cheeks. I asked if he was hurting worse than usual but he shook his head "no" and indicated he wanted to write something. This is the note he wrote.
