Preparing for Nashville

I apologize for not updating the Carepage for awhile. Mom asked me the other day why I haven't updated it lately but there really wasn't anything to report. Nothing bad, nothing good. I guess the last two weeks have just been normal. Our normal...but normal. Hey...I guess that's good!

Thinking back, there is one good thing to report. Last week I took Brian for his follow-up visit with his gastroenterologist. The nurse and the doctor both commented on how much more energetic Brian was. His doctor was almost ecstatic. On our previous visit he had changed Brian's formula to one with a higher calorie count and it has made a big difference.

Brian has had a lot of company also with both his cousin Justin and buddy Garrett spending a lot of time with him. Garrett stayed last night and will spend most of today with him and that is a blessing because it will help keep his mind off of tomorrow.

A couple of weeks ago Stephanie, a good friend from school, came over to visit for awhile and that really lifted his spirits.

Today, Carol will get our bags packed for Vanderbilt. They said to expect to be there 5-7 days. But with the surgery he is having tomorrow, we are usually released after a day or two after all of the antibiotics have been administered and his vitals are normal.

The plan is to leave here at 6:30am to check in at Vandy at 10am. Surgery is scheduled for noon and shouldn't last over an hour.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!!

Doug, Carol and Brian

You all are in my thoughts and prayers! I will send up a special prayer for Brian tomorrow for everything to go well and that he gets out really quick! Sounds like he is doing better and enjoying life with his relatives and friends! May God go with you all and keep you safe from all harm and May the blessings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, overflow you always with His goodness, grace and mercies, for He is a merciful God! Amen! God Bless! Betty

for traveling mercies, good surgery, quick healing, no pian, good recovery, peace & comfort for all, and a safe trip home.

Brian is very frightened tonight about tomorrows surgery. We have been through this many times and he always does great but as he gets older he has a better understanding of what is going on. And that is very frightening.

Your prayers are appreciated very much!! I will update you after the surgery sometime tomorrow afternoon, or night, depending on when I can get access to a computer.

Thank you and God bless,

Doug

I keep reminding myself that I am in God's hands and nothing and no one can snatch me out of His hands. There were 3 days I was in intensive care back when I had blood clots in my lungs. I could not catch my breath hardly at all. This was back in 2006 (September). Just walking down the hallway in our mobile home took all the air out of me. It was late at night and I fell to my knees. I prayed to God for His help. I reminded Him of His Word that no one and nothing could take me from His hand. I also remembered what Jesus said about 'commending His spirit to God' when He was about to die on the cross. I commended my spirit to God. I then got Sherry to rush me to the hospital.

I did not know what was going on for those 3 days. The doctor told Sherry to notify the immediate family as they said I would not make it. I had blood clots in both lungs. Had it been in one or the other they would have given me better odds but for both they just said I was going to die. Those 3 days as Sherry said it was terrible as all she saw was me fighting for each and every breath with convulsions of my body and I was gray...not enough oxygen to even keep my skin color.

As you know I am obviously still here...that is good for Sherry and me but still,...I could have been with the Lord.

I mention this I guess to be a comfort in that nothing and no one can take us from God. If the time comes we go Home then I feel more at ease knowing God called me to be with Him. God is not done with me and I am not done doing what God needs me to do.

Maybe part of His plan is working through music to reach others. I am a DJ at www.Blip.fm/MinisterPete and so far have 133 listeners so far. Anyway, thought I would share that with you Doug. God bless you and the family.

Pete, that is exactly what Cliff is going through, but without any blood clots, I think, as the Hosp said his feet and legs don't have any! His struggle to breathe and the paleness of his skin plus red and purple when he coughs and chokes is heart-breaking, sooo you know exactly how to pray for him and I thank you and everyone so very much for all your prayers!

Praying for Brian to have peace that passes all understanding and to go through his surgery with flying colors and a complete healing, quickly!

My prayer for Brian: Dear Lord, Please move upon Brian with Your comforting, healing love and give him peace that everything will and is going well with him with very little pain and no bleeding to speak of. Please comfort and give peace to Doug, Carol and Sarah that they can know all is well with You right there and Your many angels with or without wings giving him loving care with their caring and comforting love! Amen! Praise God and Thank You, Jesus, and Holy Spirit for answering our prayers for Brian and Family and also for my brother, Cliff! Amen! God Bless! Betty
