[size=medium]G-tube replacement today!
Posted 5 hours ago
Today was the day, the second replacement of Brian's g-tube Micky button since the very traumatic first replacement after surgery.
Emotionally, it wasn't any easier. The worst thing was all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, but after I calmed down, the doctor was able to switch it out fairly easily. Carol was white as a ghost and both of our stomach muscles were sore afterwards. Brian on the other hand, did just fine.
He was understandably worried about it because it is a little painful and the stomach muscles are very sensitive to touch. It didn't help matters that Brian is so ticklish either. But he did great and the doctor did a super job calming Brian down by carefully explaining everything he was going to do. The next replacement will be in about 4 months and one of us get to do the next one.
I'm sure Carol will do just fine.
Because he did so well today we let him get a new game for his PS3 and Carol got a new MP3 player to listen to at work. I got to pay for them.
Now all we have to do is figure out how to get music from a CD the size of a saucer onto a music box the size of a postage stamp. Are you reading this Amy?
We have a call into his plastic surgeon to schedule a tumor reduction. He will get back to us in a couple of weeks to schedule it. At this point we aren't sure whether to reduce the tumors on his jaws to improve his speech and hopefully his swallowing, or work on the tumors on his nose. We'll keep you posted.
As always, thank you for your thoughts and prayers!
