Brian's Battle - Possible Fracture

Possible fracture

Posted 6 hours ago

It's 1:06AM and Brian claps to wake me. He hands me a note saying that he thinks he has broken his left tibia again. He said he was pulling his blanket over him and it caught on his foot so he tried to yank it off and he heard a pop.

I don't see any swelling or feel a hot spot so if it is a fracture it is probably just a hairline fracture. He refuses to go to the hospital tonight so we wrapped it with an ace bandage. He didn't grimace with pain as I wrapped it and that is usually a good sign. If it is fractured it is a small one. He has two rods in his left tibia that reinforce the bone and help keep the bones from separating in the event of a compound fracture and this helps to reduce pain.

Brian is very tired and wants to try to sleep so we'll see how that goes and check it in the morning. He just clapped and wanted me to loosen the bandage some. I picked up his leg and Brian didn't show signs of discomfort and that is a good sign. I checked the time and Brian was due another dose of pain meds and that should help him sleep.

You still have a sense of humor Doug. That is good. Praying for you all. There is a cool video done by Don Moen (I posted the link in an earlier post.) Hope you get to hear it. It is Sherry's 'theme' song now and she is working on playing it and singing with the music. One day she hopes to sing it in front of our church.

There are times it feels that God is a million miles away....part of the song. Love it.

God bless you all.
