[size=medium] Butterfly Hugs
Posted 9 hours ago
Remember the song, "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle? Sarah was young when it was popular and would come up to me and give me those butterfly kisses occasionally. Especially when she wanted something. I sure miss them.
Brian is growing older and isn't as affectionate as he was when he was younger but occasionally, when he is feeling down, he will roll over holding his arms out wide wanting a hug. Because of the tumor growth and the trach and g-tube our hugs are now very light...butterfly hugs.
Tonight while we were watching the Food Channel (I know...why that channel of all channels?) Brian got excited when they showed the Hershey Hotel with the chocolate spa and expressed a desire to go there. You know, when Brian is able to eat again we might just take him to Hershey...that would be a SWEET vacation. But the look on his face broke my heart and I leaned over to give him a hug of reassurance and that is when I thought of the Butterfly Kisses song. So, I gave him a butterfly hug.
The pain in his face seems to be increasing daily and hopefully the upcoming surgery will help relieve some of it. Surgery is two weeks from today and even though we have been through this many times it never gets easier...
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!!
