British 5P Coin

Does anyone know what the British 5 pence coin is made from? I am referring to the new small variety. This little guy is giving my new discrimination circuit some grief!!! I am not sure if it is cupro-nickel or some kind of coated steel?

Eric,
Thanks for the info. I found the problem with my circuit. It was suffering from old age (my old age). I had mounted a diode on the PC board backwards!!! It took me hours to find it. All the best, Dave. * * *

Dave,
Your discrimation circuit.are you placeing a
meter near damping circuit.I am not school trained,
when you dont know what you are doing,it's hard to
get something to work.
Will you post a drawing of your discrimation
circuit or send me a copy.Thank's.

Frank, The method is quite involved. Multiple samples of 1uS duration are taken for each transmit pulse. The sample voltages control various circuits before being modified and linearly combined to provide the discrimination result. This is a new circuit which will require some more work to be done before it is ready. Just because it works OK on the bench is by no means a guarantee that it will be OK in the field. All the best, Dave. * * *
