My poor old XS finally reached the end of it's practical service life last week end, so I replaced it with the SE yesterday. I was just starting to get used to it too.
I managed to hunt for a couple of hours at a favourite site, pulling up the usual suspects and felt like the pied piper for about an hour. Had 4 ankle bitters following me closely, one even started crawling right next to the coil so that he could dive on the next target. (I sped up.) I'm sure that you haven't ever had that happen to you on hunts before.
I thought I had my first silver coin, but got fooled by a more modern copper 2c piece. Oh well, the practice never hurt.
All up, the SE is a delight to use (but you already know that). I loved the pinpoint mode. It seems that it has lots to tell and although it's only a first hunt I'm sure there's plenty to pick up and I'll even be able to change coils this time round, as the shaft was glued into place on the old one. With a faster recovery speed (screen) and having both sets of numbers up on the screen are both nice conveniences. I imagine my silver count is going to go up. I haven't often hunted for them, but with the Explorer, it really lends itself to the task.
