Went back to the vacant city lot in the out-of-the-way town where I had found my shield nickel. This time I let my Safari run in all metal, and processed every signal very carefully. Didn't want to miss anything this time. Sure enough, I was able to pluck one keeper from the ground...an 1897 IH with a very nice green patina. It was about 15 feet away from where the shield nickel was found. Unfortunately I couldn't coax any silver out of the ground but I'm happy to have at least left with another 1800s coin.
