Broke into the 1800s again

Ray in WA

Went back to the vacant city lot in the out-of-the-way town where I had found my shield nickel. This time I let my Safari run in all metal, and processed every signal very carefully. Didn't want to miss anything this time. Sure enough, I was able to pluck one keeper from the ground...an 1897 IH with a very nice green patina. It was about 15 feet away from where the shield nickel was found. Unfortunately I couldn't coax any silver out of the ground but I'm happy to have at least left with another 1800s coin.

HH,

Ray

Thats awesome Ray, if you found a shield and a IH there will be (more) silver. Is this the same spot you been hunting lately?

Thanks Dale. Well, I've only been to this spot twice. The first time I found the shield nickel, the second time I found the IH. I plan on going back and going over it again in low density setting, which tends to go a bit deeper than high density. One would think there should be a silver coin there. I was hoping that's where I would find my first seated. :)
