broken explorer

:minelab:
i remember the first minelab i bought was through a local dealer who was extremely helpful.when the detector arrived he called me to come pick it up.upon my arrival he helped unpack it ,assemble it.place the batteries in,turn it on and listen to that sweet sound of a dime that the sovxs makes.he was as happy as i was,and thats the way it should happen all the time.i hope swish can get settled down with a good detector .--hh:minelab::minelab::minelab:

I would say, if you are going to come onto the forum and make the accusation, then name the guilty party as well. They may well have their side to relate so I don't want to come to any conclusion without hearing that.

Something about this whole picture doesn't seem right. Either there is some really scumbag dealer out there, and if that is the case we all want to avoid them, or there is more to this than we've been told. I'm not sure which it is, so I can't make any judgements.

hi all.
received my new explorer se pro today. put it together and found it was dead on arrival.hvae to send it to vegas to get it repaired. they said i couldn't exchange it at local dealer. more expense and back to waiting

did you try charging the battery first or just take it out of the box and assemble it and put in the battery UNCHARGED and declare it a dead machine???

seems to me that if you wont answer anyones questions here there is something strange here ..like maybe you are a light side user who just came here to stir up the pot....because minelab has always been pretty darn good about taking care of ANY problems...so hmmmm i wonder about you and your story.

to answer your questions. yes i changed the batteries. i turned it on and let the people in vegas listen to it over the phone. # 2 the dealer is in corpus christie texas. # 3 the fellow on here that goes by BEEP STICK can think whatever he likes. i tried to work it out with minelab. i finally got an email last night after 5 days now thats great service and support. and until beep stick goes thru the headaches i've gone thru kindly keep your opinions to yourself.

well since beep stick has ALWAYS had great service from minelab and never had to deal with any headaches like you described i guess im entitled to my opinion and if i so desire WILL EXPRESS IT HERE the same as you did about your troubles. im sorry you had a bad experience how ever..and good luck with your other new detector

Minelab has had excellent service in the past - primarily when Dick Shultz was in charge of that part of the operation. He was let go earlier this year and the recent changes to policy have the customer contact the dealer rather than Minelab directly and defective items are only exchanged when the bad item is returned first to Las Vegas and evaluated for warranty work. A friend of mine recently got a GPX 4500 with a bad battery cord and it took 3 weeks to get that issue resolved. Minelab is working through their changes but the service is not at the level it had been previously when different people were in charge and that is just a fact of life right now . . .

don't forget about Dick Schultz too.

Wow really sorry to hear what happened.I would think your dealer would have insisted on taking the machine back and giving you a new one.Thats a prob when a dealer drop ships a detector to you.Its better for him to get it 1st ,test it and then send to you. That would have avoided this whole mess for you. There are some good dealers out there if you really want a deep seeking machine. The dfx is great, but i walk behind my buddy(he uses dfx) and get all the targets he misses ALOT.He cant even pick up the deep ones and misses the stuff in heavy trash.I hope you have better luck with your next machine. If u really want whites u may wanna think about the Vision. Its the closest thing you can get to the Se or Etrac in my opinion.Best of luck to you :)

i agree with all the past replies with the imediate exchange...but

ive heard a lot of stories about the rough handling of packages through fed ex,ups or who have you...

some of these machines might be shook too hard by those %#!^%$ guys..bfore they get anywhere..:veryangry:

i think the shipper should be more careful and held responsible for electronics somehow too....:stretcher:
