Several weeks ago I found this brooch here in NH and I am trying to find out what age it might be. Has anyone else ever found something like this before. It is made from copper or bronze and was found in a field that has seen use since the late 1600's. I am thinking before 1850 as I am not sure that something like this might have been worn after then....it just seems very crude and chunky...maybe this is some sort of hat buckle?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
