Bryce.... large coils...

Hi Bryce,

I read many of your post on the larger coils in your sticky post that has links to all your posts about different coils. I am thinking of getting a larger coil mostly to use on my ET. I couldn't quite tell from your reviews which one you really prefer the most.

If you could only have one coil larger than the Pro coil, which one would you keep and why? If you could have two which ones and why?

I don't need you to go into detail, I know you are busy but I would really appreciate your opinion on this. I was impressed by your thoughts on the 15x18 and how it hits coin sized targets.

Thanks,

Julien

Hi Julien.

It depends on what you consider a "large" coil.

Do you consider the SEF 10 x 12 a "large" coil since it is 1" longer? ]

For the record...I'll take the 10 x 12 SEF coil over the pro coil PERIOD...HANDS DOWN ...and those reasons are stated in the comparison tests I did between the 2 in my field test post.

Also...do you consider the 12" Sunray coil a "large" coil since it is 1" bigger circumferance?

If so...I'll take it OVER the pro coil as well
The field test I did on the 12" Sunray which is posted in my link is NOT thorough...and that is because the complete, and very thorough report will be published in the June issue of Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine which comes out in about 3 weeks....so I can't say anything further on it at this time.

If you consider those two coils as large coils...then they win for me over the pro coil. Actually they win for me over the pro coil REGARDLESS:thumbup:

Personally I don't consider either of those two coil as a "large" coil though.

To me...the coils I consider in the "large" coil category are the 14" Excelerator...16" Excellerator...18" Excelerator...12 x 15 SEF...15" WOT...and 15 x 18 SEF.

If you are considering the ones I just mentioned as large coils...and we are on the same page there...then my answer would be the 12 x 15 SEF and the WOT coil.

I truthfully don't have any reasons other than what is stated in the thorough field test on the WOT for that coil.

As for the 12 x 15 coil...it is lighter than the 15 x 18...and sensitive to coin sized targets....which are the reasons I would choose it.

The other side of that is that the 15 x 18 covers more ground...and was also sensitive to coin sized targets.

You asked me for my personal reasons though...and that's as honest as I can be.

The BEST part of this is that I don't have to choose any over the other...and I'm thankful for that... because they ALL have some quality that I feel is unique to them....and that helps them find previously missed coins.

Thank you Bryce,

That is exactly what I wanted to know. I want a larger coil and will try one of the 12x15 coils. I also think I am going to try a 6x8. I have heard nothing but good about them.
