Buckle or Watch Fob?

I believe its a strap buckle from horse harness. I found one just like it near an old farm here.

I'm new at the subject but seems to me I've seen those b4. Martingale? Try directing your search toward Civil War tack items? Sorry, the best I can do. <img src="/metal/html/shrug.gif" border=0 width=37 height=15 alt=":shrug">

I've seen your heart buckle offered by Civil War dealers as a Confederate blanket roll buckle for upwards of $50. But an identical item was also produced up into the 1920's as a decorative harness buckle.

I found one here in Michigan too Virginia, but it was the "bullseye" variety. Found it at a farm house in Canton. Nice find!
