Buffalo and the Statue of Liberty

I went back to the honey hole this afternoon for a couple hours. I found a small Statue of Liberty pin and a 1936 Buffalo Nickel. (My First Neither were more than 6 inches deep and both were mixed amongst the iron. I was using my 4.5x6 Excelerator coil to pick between the trash. I also found two large Eley London shell primers. (I think they're shell primers) It's about the size of a silver dollar.

Sweet finds! That buffalo nickel is in nice shape. No doubt about the date on that one.

Great buffalo nickel; good clear date. Most of the baffaloes I've dug are dateless.

I found it about 7 feet away from the 1944 merc I found the other day with my Sunray X-12. Both coins look like they were dropped not too long after being put into circulation. This site is littered with iron and I'm thinking most people before me must have given up. It's hard to believe it's been there as long as it has without somebody snatching it up.

I was using my big coil at first thinking I needed to get down really deep. But after a several finds between me and my friends I realized that everything we were digging was 6" or less so I switched over to my small coil to reduce my search footprint with regards to the iron. About 4" to the right of the nickle was a 3" rusty nail. I pulled it out of the side of the hole after digging the nickel and checking for more signals.
