Found this spiral musket ball yesterday with the wadding still stuffed in it. I have never seen one of these before and was wondering how old it might be. The Large Cent found nearby is a 1801 or 1807 crusty copper found both in a break in a stone wall that was probably a field. Hunted 3 cellar holes nearby..nada. Ron
 
Looks to me like a modern "rifled slug" fired out of a shotgun for hunting deer. This was an improvement on the old "punkin' ball". Started in use in the 1960's if I'm not mistaken.
