Found this piece where a town once was in the 1800s pretty sure it’s lead due to the weight but I don’t know what it is. Any ideas?

Looking at the side view, almost looks like a saboted shotgun slug, but I could be way off.

That is what I thought at first but not sure.

looks like lead, a Propane torch will tell you if it is.

I was thinking the same thing, possibly a canteen spout stopper with the top ring missing. Cool looking piece.

I could see that!! It’s really hard to tell with it being beat up quite a bit.

I will say slug almost without a doubt. You can see the rifling on it. Those old lead slugs were grooved like that. Probably still are. Ring up like a zinc or just under?

If I remember correctly it was a solid 70-71. With it being out in the middle of a field it’s a good chance it’s a slug.

I'll go with the slug idea also. Looks like what we called a rifled slug. I thaught slugs were abot 3/4 to 1 once . See how much it waighs.

Just weighted it and it was .90oz good chance that’s exactly what it is. Thanks!
