BURP On SOV GT

Member
I'm new to this machine so please forgive me. Do bottle caps always burp. Every time I get the burp sound I dig it and its always been a bottle cap. Can I reliably say at this point that when the sov burps its going to be a bottle cap. I am saying this because on my whites machine I've gotten some rings with rocks that sounded like crap but I always knew to dig cause I could hear a good tone within the crappy tone. Thanks

When i hear that sound ill pass it up i know it,s a rusty bottle cap it,s the iron mask kicking in , now aluminum caps completely different sound low steady groin . HH Jim

oneon,I usually don't dig lower conduct targets unless the ID reading isn't normal, which can be small gold jewelry. Most of my 14K medium to large rings will be just above or below the nickel range and have a very smooth tone.If you use a meter 142-149 for these large to medium 14K rings.Gold will read both high and low, example I found a men's large 10K class ring that was just below the zinc area.My 14K wedding band will come in as a pull tab, bottom line Sovereign is a great jewelry detector but will require new users to dig a lot of targets to learn tones and IDs if a meter is used.Good Luck Ron

Most bottle caps are easy to recognize on the GT. Thankfully! They burp or some make a fuzzy loud sound, takes just a bit of time to recognize them. The burp is an alloy in the cap breaking above the iron disc range. They will normally burp then null if rusty. They are amoung the easiest targets to ID by ear so you will stop digging them. Nothing worth keeping sound like that. Corona caps are hard to tell since they are a different alloy and you probably will be fooled by them.
