Thank you Steve for the info. The backmark does not exist. The back is steel and pretty rusted up and the shank is bent to the side. I can't find it in my Albert's book or on the internet. I've got $100.00+ of great books coming for xmas :) Maybe it will be in one of those.
 
I believe its a centenial button, I found a centenial bell it said Independence 1776-1876 3/4" tall 1/2" at the bottom. at the top its got patd march 21 76
