Found this one last weekend in an area that once had an oil boom town. Believe I was at where some sort of shop was located. I am not sure if it is part of a button or something else. It's slightly larger than a dime and appears to have snapped onto another part.
 
Very well could be. The back looks like it was rolled over another piece that would have had the thread post.
It looks like it may have been in a fire at some time. Too little info for me to take it further.
I just love the items that make you do a little research to find out just what they are.
 
I worked for this one. The area was covered in wild blackberry bushes and my legs were scratched up badly. ( I'll wear long pants next time.) There were few places to run the coil, just small spaces between the bushes.
