I found this button at a long old crumbling foundation in the woods. The foundation is on a 1860s map. The button says 'SCOVILL MF G Co Waterbury'. I did find that it was probably made between 1850-1865. I'm just curious if anyone has any more information about this specific button. I looked at a lot of webpages but could find one like it. Is it just a decorative button? Thanks.

Looks similar to what Scoville list as a Army Republic button...cool find!

Thanks guys! It’s greatly appreciated. I always like to know if the buttons are tied to something historic. I’m looking forward to returning to the site Friday.
