Well, I've collected buttons, coins and many things over the years, but Mom had the Older Button Collection and I've taken them off the string they were on and took pics of them! She would have been so thrilled to have had a metal-detector like we have today because she loved collecting all sorts of coins and relics, loved to read Science and Geography being curious about the world....even space books!

Since most cannot go :detecting: now I thought I would start posting some of the collections I have and when Wanda brings my pictures back from her making copies of the family, I will try to post some pics of the trips my family made while younger and all together! Steve in AZ has posted some of his collections before and Greg his train hobby and bottle collecting....I hope others will post some of theirs to view and dream over! :) Hope you like the buttons and if you know what some of them are...please let me know....there are war buttons, old coat and dress buttons, some buttons probably went on baby clothes, as they are colorful and tiny and etc. May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Button pictures continued! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

,WTG Ma,I'm sure you had a good time God Bless,I hope and pray you will see some of those hunting days again......
With God All Things Are Possible......He is Awesome....

Thanks for the post. I like the military ones the best!

Actually Martin between mom's button collection and mine....these are only a small part (just tried to show you the old time buttons with shanks and of different shapes and colors)! I used to sew and bought buttons, also, when they were on sale and I thought I might need them for Tami's clothing and some I made for myself...but mostly for her! May God Bless and if you have a collection of any kind to show or can post pics please let us see them! I like to see different collections, as most detectorists are also collectors! Ma Betty

Thank you Dan and, yes, I did have a lot of :detecting: days and enjoyed worshiping and talking to God while I did and He blessed me many times with some nice finds and areas to hunt! I liked going with my friends and we always had a good time whether we found anything or not! I sure miss them and :twodetecting: together...but death and aging have taken its toll! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Hi Mike, me son, you are welcome and I hope many on here will post pics of any or all collections that they have, as they are interesting to see! I knew you would like the Military buttons....until I was looking at mom's buttons....I didn't even know that she had collected the military ones! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

You are welcome Greg and glad you liked seeing my buttons and thanks to you and all who viewed the post of my pics! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Thanks Steve.....If you look for old antique clothing, I'm sure that lots of old-fashioned buttons can be found....but paying for those older clothes might be expensive! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Well if you say so Rick, but never heard of button heaven! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Thank you, Liz, but my mother is the one who collected these and, if she had not, I wouldn't be able to have them after she passed away in 1984! My collection is not as old but have some neat buttons! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Hi Ma; PLEASE do me a favor and reset up those buttns so that they are ALL facing in the EXACT same direction and the repost the pics of them. I'm looking at your buttons. Most noticeably the brass ones with the Eagles, Anchors and Shields on them next to the Large black ones there. I don't think you realize what you uhave there. I believe they are Civil War Naval Officer Buttons and I believe that a couple of them are actually CONFEDERATE NAVAL OFFICERS Buttons. If so I'm drooling here. If so they are incredbly valuable due to their condition and RARITY. They are INCREDIBLY RARE.!!!!! Please Ma, repost them all in the same position. Also take pics of them both on the front and back. I'm sitting here floored. I'm falling over from them. You will to when you see the Prices I reply to you with. Ma, I think you have a real jackpot there. I can hardly wait to see those new pics. I'm not kidding here Ma. Thanks for Posting those pics. There are a few othjers I will date and price for you as well ok. Enjoy them. Thanks. PEACE: RONB  :surprised: :clapping: :super:

Ok Ron, I will try to get them all to face the camera in the right direction! These were my mother's collection and she probably started collecting way back before, during or after the great depression! Just don't know for sure! My great-grandfather on my dad's side of the family was in the Civil War, so mom might have gotten them when she and dad were first married in 1932 and lived with grandma...dad's mom....that is where their first son was born, Bobby Jr, who died of pnuemonia as a baby and me in 1935! Sooo....she could have buttons that are very old....just don't know as it would take me a long time to research them! (Will try to do the reposting of them tomorrow, if not will do it before the end of the week, as I'll be busy for a while! ) Thanks for looking and hope you can give me prices on them! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

I'll get you the prices too. I think some of the others are actually a hardeend rubber that was made by the Ford Company at the turn of the Century as promotional pieces. Some f the others I think could be what was called Bakerlite which is from the 1950's and are worth some bucks as well. The others appear to be made from Deppersion era glass or rubber. They're not worth much but still nice. The Four Large either copper or brass ones with no holes in them are most likely One Piece buttons from around 1820 or older because the one piece button was basically gone by the 1830's. The three buttons with the green stones on the are most likely gold plated with a glass diamond in the center but the green stones are most like real Jade. They did not use fake stones back then. They and the other decorated ones date from the 1930's - 1950. Those gold Gilted buttons are most likely from the 1780's to 1820 based on the fact that they are one piece, gold Gilted ones with a Federal floral design on them which was prevalent during the Revolutionary War to the War of 1812 and can be quite valuable. I just can't see the design on them very well or the makers name which was usually Scovilles Co.. Depending on the design and condition, which appear to be in "Fine" condition can be worth literally worth "HUNDREDS" of dollars. I just need to see the design better and the Company name on the back. If I know those 2 pieces of info. I could probably tell you "exactly" when they were made and possibly even the name of the worker who made them. The small button next to them may be silver with Onyx or Silver plated with Onyx. The Small charm at the bottom is Silver with an Irish Celtic Horse or Lion design on it. I can't quite see the large gold plated Medallions near the bottom enough to see the design. Those 2 small gold plated buttons at the top right of those medallions actually are Colonial Cuff or shirt buttons and belong beside the other Colonial Larger buttons. The Buttons that are above the large Colonial buttons are probably Gold plated but the black stones n them are most likely real Onyx. The reason is that they did not start using Imitation stones until about 1960. Those appear to be older and are thus real stones ok. So now you know why I'm saying what I'm saying ok. I'm dying to see the new pictures. I know I can nail them down for you then ok. I hope this helps. Until later; PEACE:RONB :clapping:
