C Button

Anyone found or know anything about this button. Found at an 1850's house site thought it to be a confederate Calvary but not sure because of the back. Hoping someone has found one like it or knows something about it. Thinking overall button never seen one like it wondering the ago of it.

Having the steel back, it can't be older than the 1890s. Maybe a replacement for a lost button from a Civil War era uniform.

Not true that's a iron tinned back button probably confederate Calvary I have numerous 1850s era iron tinned back buttons even union ones

You're right Jesseray. Didn't know about tin-backed buttons back then. How can you tell an origin from a replacement?

Have to check the measurements of the button and the design of the C on the front. I can't see it very well in the photo but it doesn't look period I'd make sure though because Calvary buttons are worth a few bucks.I have a iron tinned back Calvary script that's autistic so they do exist.
