C-scope cs6 pi

I decided to try something different and bought a preused CS6 PI but am unsure how to use the settings to get the best out of the machine. Looking at the postings in the forum I may have made an unwise decision with C-scope but it's what I have been used to and anyway I've got it now.
I have seen a posting that there is a way to descriminate between iron (no descriminate) although it was not specified in the posting.
Any advice would be very much welcome.
