C$ Volume Adjustment

Whenever volume adjustment is mentioned, it appears most set the C$ to max and use headphones to lower the volume. I've always set my phones to max and only cranked my C$ to achieve a comfortable loudness (usually about half way). My thinking was I would be saving battery life. Am I missing something(a little extra depth) by doing so ? I would make some tests myself but the ground is pretty froze in Conn.

Hey where in CT are ya? I grew up in East Lyme & the ground is solid here in RI. Anyhow, I don't think there's a right or wrong answer here. If the level is comfortable for you, & it works....go with it. I have just always liked everything to be loud. I don't wanna miss a weak blip that could be something deep & I like to hear all the 4 different tones clearly. I think once you get usted to a certain level you become accustomed to that. Like my Killer B headphones are one of the loudest pairs in the hobby. When I broke a set in the UK & borrowed a set of Grey Ghosts, I heard a definate difference. They seemed 1/2 as loud & I was not comfortable using 'em...HH, Bill

Thanks for the response Bill. I'm located close to Hartford in a town called Glastonbury. They are predicting 10 to 20 inches of that white crap tomorrow....ugh! It may be awhile befor my C$ gets out again. Keep up the great forum.....it has provided me (and I'm sure - others)with a wealth of info.
