Cache Probe CP-100 ??

Anyone has experience with Cache Probe CP-100 (or other models) ?

It is supposed to beep briefly and go silent when is turned on.

Mine never goes silent, except when I touch a ferrous object.

Any great ideas? I only air tested it so far. Cannot go further.

It looks very promising for coin hunting without disturbing grass.

While holding the "trigger" back, turn the knob counter-clockwise until it goes silent. Touch it to something non-ferrous; it should sound. If it won't quit squawking, there's something out of whack that needs to be looked at.

It has no any knobs unfortunatelly.

Does it really work?

I like the general idea of phisically feeling the coin before digging.

I love digging in the beach with my super extra monster scoop, but hate digging in the dirt with rats and snakes around!

Aw those rats & snakes won't hurt you Mirco (most of the time)! You better get youself one of those new-fangled "Pistol Probes" and all of your problems will be solved (almost).

It looks like the disk on the top does not rotate! Is not rotateable! Not moveable!

It was my last deep stomach hope!!

I'm really sorry, Mirco. I thought we had this figured out. I messed up; I was at work when I found the picture and mistook it for mine. Looking at my probe in front of me now, I see it does have a knob in front of the disk. I'm out of ideas, except to suggest contacting the manufacturer and get the straight story.

I'm disappointed with it. It works, with reservations. After pinpointing with the detector, I use it to determine if what I've touched with a screwdriver is non-ferrous (by the way, it sounds off on pulltabs). I figure let the screwdriver push through the stones and clear the path for the probe. You have to be very close to the target; like within an 1/8th of an inch before it sounds off. I have it, I use it, but I wouldn't get another one.
