California has just banned Gold Dredging...

Well the idiot government has banned gold dredging and successfully taking my means of making a living during the summer. Gov Arnold signed the bill today. What a disappointment he is now. Time to go to Federal court to get our FEDERAL mining rights back that a STATE has taking away, which is illigal by the way. Man Im pissed. Anyway here is a pic of some of my nice California gold from my dredge this year. Got me 3 oz's now, guess I have to stop there cause it is now a misdemener to dredge here...Time to go back to Oregon before they do the same. guess its time to fire up my Infinium with my new 10x14 in. Mono coil I got last week in anticipation that this might happen....

that's a sad reality of modern times a small minority of very vocal people ( Greene's ) can change laws wile normal people have no chance  i can see a time in the not to distant future were detecting will be band from all public land .
very nice gold i use to do a bit of dredging in Kiwi land ( New Zealand ) & there's nothing like doing a wash up at the end of the day & seeing all the gold shining up from the bottom of your pan .

That stinks, Alan. I hope you guys can get organized and fight this injustice. The government bends over backwards to protect the rights of illegal immigrants, the indigent, the homeless, the spotted owl, and whatever species they're trying to protect with this ridiculous law. When are they going to wake up and understand that everyday hard working Americans have rights too? I read a few news stories related to your problem. It seems the gas engine is the problem. Maybe you can figure out a way to get some gold sluice boxing or panning. There's always detecting too.

That is a great pile of gold and I'm sure it represents a lot of hard work. A few of those nuggets are beautiful.

Chris

I just had a thought. Why don't you go apply for unemployment because your means of making a living has been taken away? California gives tons of money to "guests" who have no legal status in this country. Go grab some before it's all sent south of the border.

Yes another right goes down to defeat. To the Sierra Fund in Kalifornia, these well financed small special interest groups will keep chipping away until we stand up and stop it. These groups blackmail business to give money to them then they use it to fund greedy politicans to vote their BS laws, and line their pockets with bribe money to stay in power. There is no scientific fact that links Salmon declines on the west coast to suction dredging. I would never think that over fishing by Japanese, Russians, and other pacific rim hoards, and out of control Native American slaughter of fish with gill nets, may just be a factor. The Salmon counts in the Sacramento River are almost nonexistent. The Sacramento River has not been dredged in of 20 yrs. Not a single fish has ever been documented as being killed or injured by a Suction dredge, not one. In Fact envirro studies in Alaska, Washington and in Kaliforna, yes you read it right a 1994 EIR study by the Kalifornia DF&G on suction dredging all say there is no danger to Fishes by Suction Dredging. Problem is these hopelaphobes will contest the results because it don't agree with their wacko believes. So they just keep at it until some activists judge or they buy enough politicians to pass something like this SB-670. These Wackos want the world to return to before man was here.

Metal detecting is already banned in someplaces in Illinois and Indiana. Last time I went to a local school yard (last summer) I was told to beat it. I argued it is on my tax bill the authorization since the schools get a wad everytime Illinois confiscatory taxation needs a boost. An open field where I found lots of silver and a gold coin I get harrassed by a local watcher of the dirt. My brother in law was dredging near Shades Park in Indiana. The greenies forced the landowner to make him quit. Turmoil and agitation has taken over since Gov Arnold and Gov Blago and the Chicago mafia took over DC. Turn that in to the snitch site. I can handle it. If it's fun they want to steal it, tax it or spoil it. Only "trained" archeologists can dig, "trained" weather spotters know what a tornado looks like etc. Sounds like I got my fur ruffled. I did. Things got so bad I had to auction our treasures of 56 years including 30 lbs of silver and gold coins and yes including the gold coin I found with a metal detector. I got my taxes paid now but will be in the hole again next year.

What entity banned detecting at schools? Local? State? What type of site was your silver and gold coin site? Public or private?

It's only going to get worse. Illegals have rights, drug dealers have rights that when violated get them set free to continue their destructive behavior, salmon have rights. ever so slowly my rights are being taken from me. Wait until the "Green" movement gets up to full speed. There was a recent proposed law in my county that if passed would have required a house to pass a test to meet certain "Green" requirement before it could be sold. New home already require this. It almost passed and it will probably pass next time it's proposed. When the Federal govermnet gets involved forget it.

I'll probably be told this response if Off Topic but it really isn't. We treasure hunters will wake up day and find many of our favorite sites off-limits.

I'm extremely sorry to hear about your hardship. At least you got good prices.

Don't be a stranger here.

Stick it to the man, Alan! Did anybody see or join you? (Be careful what you post too.)

I hear the justice department is going to posthumously indict the perpetrators of the Boston Tea Party for crimes against the environment. I couldn't resist.

Chris

Thanks for the nice compliment. I still think back to your posts about swinging your big coil on that dried up lake every time I put mine on my 2500.

Nice pile of gold bud. Is this going to put Dave and Maria out of business? They tried this crap years ago and we all fought it and killed it but Dave paid the price later for fighting it and using his magazine ( the former Gold and Treasure Hunting magazine that I was field test editor of ) to get the word out. The state unloaded on him something fierce. Cost him a major fortune fighting the apes. The state even planted a guy there at his business to provide false information against Dave, then this guy quits after a day or two and shortly after mysteriously died, about the time this was all to go to court for a long battle. Glad I left that state many moons ago. Feel for Dave and Maria. Hope you can find some new gold spots.

Yeah our country is going down the toilet fast and since Goober took office he is using a plunger to speed it up. Ain't the country I grew up in. Whatever happened to that country? I think they called it America.

It's time to start another revolution because our constitution is so misread in between the lines because philedelphia lawyers, and these green people it is'nt funny the speacial interests groups are gunning for our freedoms worse than our enemy country's and the mind set of our country is (oh it will go away) attitude

What are the mining clubs that own claims going to do about this?
Are ALL gold dredging operations going to stop or does that law apply to the weekend hobbiest.

Passing an illegal act or doing something contrary to law or constitution is what this administration is all about.
They are supreme beings above all law.
A lot of bond holders that thought they had their investment protected by law found that out not very long ago.
We the people have given them the power to change things and as promised ... there will be changes!
This is just the start my friend.
Come back in two years and take a look.

Use the federal court system for the 1872 federal mining laws to see if the state has the right to trump federal laws.
Use PLP and other resources to get there from here.

Yes I have repeatedly been saying that in many discussions..."a revolution is a comin'...including some of my other hobby websites that others have repeated as well (revolution is a comin')

We have no rights any more and it seems that everything we enjoy in our lives is becomming illegal.

If this country does revolt I believe it will be with "big business" and the supposed government. They have caused the deterioration of this country and it has been a domino effect for the last several years. The problem is it takes the majority of the country to come together to make a serious impact (something similar as 911).
