Called Sandy at Minelab today about my ferrous problem

We had quite a chat and covered a lot of possibilities. One thing that she mentioned and I tried today was in the manual it says to raise the coil in the air to noise balance. It even shows a pic to follow. She says find a quiet spot on the ground like we used to do and then push noise cancel. It seemed to help some but I need to hunt a little more to see if it actually works. Another thing she mentioned is if you carry a cell phone turn it off. Also mentioned turning the gain down to 2 or 3 but I can't bring myself to do that.
My thought is if you have had Explorers before then tweek your new SE and experament as I will. If its not the software then we will overcome.

She basically told me the same thing as you. She was very nice...but I still had the same problems after trying what she said. I'll give it until after Thanksgiving to try some more settings such as gain down to 3...which seems crazy to me...then I may send mine in. My screen still split 3 times today...not as bad as it did in the picture I posted but it did do it. Paid way too much money for that kind of stuff to be happening.

I'd kinda like to know if maybe a certain production run was affected & if they might be able to identify the serial #'s of suspect units & maybe do a recall...I'd surely rather be able to send mine in at my convienance, than to wait until it screws up when I might have a trip planned....TT
