Can anyone tell where you are hitting gold rings on the 1350?

Like I said I am up to 919 coins YTD but, no gold rings. I have been working at the nickels, I have 35 so far but no gold rings. I have dug a couple junk rings but no gold or silver rings. So I was just wondering, I know gold can come in anywhere in the gold range but are you guys getting most of yours in any certain range on the conductivity scale? Thanks in advance.

Finding gold is more about location than where it comes in on your detector. Like you said, it can come in anywhere from just below nickle to zinc penny, but if you aren't where gold is, you won't find it. If there's a public swimming pool in your area, get permission to hunt the grassy area inside the fence. Or, if there's a lake with a swim beach, check that out. Remember to look in those out of the way spots that most detectorists don't even look at there. Work the shallows, a lot of rings are there from moms playing with little ones. Suntan lotion+cold water=shrinking fingers=rings in your pouch. Also check any volleyball pits you see, usually a good find in those too. Now, sit back and think of more activities that can cause a ring to come off a finger and where that spot might be!!!

Gold rings on the Garrett's will show up anywhere from foil to coin. I haven't got experience with the 1350, but I used the ACE series and the GTI 2500 enough to comment. Most of the thinner, nicer ladies rings will come in around foil/nickel, some of the heavier rings will show up near zinc penny, and anywhere in between. Concentrate on the nickel signals first, be prepared to dig lots of junk and eventually you'll hear that "smoooooooth" sound that'll produce a flash of gold in the plug. If you aren't digging many nickels, you won't dig much gold.

FWIW I average a gold item about every 1000 clad coins. I have gone many months in between gold finds and have found gold items five days in a row once. I've found two gold in one day twice too. The secrets as have been posted here often are location and persistence and LUCK. It will happen. I don't think you're behind schedule at all. Try to raise your nickel percentage a bit. My nickel percentage with a GTI 2500 fluctuates but is usually 8-10 percent. 35 nickels in 1000 coins would be low for me. You might be digging more pennies than me, though. About 40 percent of my finds are cent coins.

Gold can hit anywhere but most of my finds are within a notch or two of nickel.

I began this post with FWIW because your hunting style might be a whole lot different than mine.

Find a virgin, older, bark chip playground. If it hasn't been hunted in a long while there will probably be gold or at least silver jewelry there. Do a thorough job. Do under and around play equipment with a sniper coil. To do an average sized one completely takes me 4-5 hours if I do a good job. I only want 30 percent if my advice is useful.

Thanks guys! That does help a lot! I think you are right Chris, I was talking to my tectin partner and I was just telling him that I have to dig more nickles! Out of 1,014 coins: 371 pennies, 36 nickels, 287 quarters and 305 dimes and 2 silver dimes, I also got 1 Sacagawea dollar. I also have gotten one silver ring and 2 junk jewlery rings.

Gold, depending on composition, karat, size, thickmess, hits all over the place but mostly in the nickel to foil range. High karat gold has the same conductivity as foil. You have to dig junk to get gold, sad but true.

i don't have a 1350 but with my ace it hits from foil to penny but most hit around the nickle segment on the ID
all the tips above are great just thought i"d add my ones.
my tip is to dig only signals in the gold range ( high foil, nickle, low pull tab ) for a few days & just leave the high & iron tones in the ground this should increase the chance of finding gold but get ready to dig a lot of junk .
next tip # get a few rings & try em out listen to the sound they make & watch what they do on the ID meter or even better take some with you detecting in the Field & compere the signals with the ones your digging.
next tip # start detecting in a " i"m going to find gold " frame of mind & don't give up till ya do this is very important as most people give up & leave the gold for more patient detectorists.

Thank you lazyaussie! All very good hunting tips. There is an old catholic school down in the city, it has an old playground that hasn't been updated since I was a kid! I plan on getting up early Saturday and putting all this advice to work down there! I also have been checking my wedding band and that of my wife's and they both hit in the nickel/foil range! So, we will see tomorrow! Thanks again you guys, you never disappoint!

If your nickel count was up at around 100 those ratios would look exactly like mine.

688 cent coins, 210 nickels, 630 dimes, 538 quarters, 2 one dollar coins. 2068 total. 4 silver dimes. I've found a lot more jewelry, though. You'll hit a streak of good luck and catch up soon, I bet.
