Can I boost the Frequency on my machine?

Hey fellow MDer's, my question to you is this. Can I boost the frequency of my machine and if so how? I am giving this a consideration as I'm finding my machine is not very sensitive to gold which to some degree bothers me or would it be better and cheaper to buy a new machine more specific to gold. Any insights would be greatly appreciated and all will be considered.

Changing the frequency on most machines, if possible would be a MAJOR undertaking...The circuitry would need major tweaking...The coils and everything inside the box are calibrated around the machine's operating frequency...
I would suggest an upgrade to a machine with a higher frequency, such as the Tesoro's or Minelab machines...Something in the 11-18Khz range...

HH,

I agree with GoGo. Better go buy an LST, or some other gold magnet, than converting your detector into a non-working unit! :rage: I converted a Ford into a Chevy, once. And even though my profession is in electronics, I'd NEVER entertain what you are considering. Yep, GoGo's got it right!

Thanks you guys for giving me the heads up. I'll do a bit of hunting only to find a higher frequency machine than trying to convert my present one.
