Can I get any feedback on this 1916 Canadian one cent piece? Most are copper.

Hey Bob. Maybe you should get a coin book on Canadian coins as you seem to post a lot of Canadian coins. Not sure if you have one or whether or not it will tell you what you want to know. A fellow in our club found a coin that seems to be silver and about the size of a dime. It says on the back "not one cent" and I heard that it was a civil war coin made for a "good for token". HH.

If you can get your friends Coin pictured, front and back, I have a book that will most likely have the coin in it along with the rarity and value of it also. Something to think about! Then he would know what he has for sure. Good Luck and HH.

Hello Bob, I just looked in on the forum, usually in the Quattro forum. My world book of coins shows Canada issued large one cent coins from 1858 to 1920, the metal used was bronze. The George V Obverse as shown on your coin was used from 1912-1936. The mintage for the 1916 cent was 11,022,367.

Hello there NH Bob. I have found a few of the Canadian Large Cents and most are Common but there is a few that are harder to find and are worth more. I don't have a price book on Canadian Coins but if Rick(ND) see's this post, he has an older one that would give you an idea of what it is worth. They changed to the smaller Canadian Cents (size of a regular Penny) in 1920. Those Canadian Large Cents are fun to find and I don't find too many of them since they are a bigger item and usually are the first to be found by a seasoned detectorist. Congrats on the find and Good Luck and HH.
