Can I have some honest opinions on Omega 8000..Stability & Depth

You must have never used one or don't know how to get the most out of it if you think in any way it does not perform at the top of the Teknetics range. Mine outperforms any T2 or F75 I've seen, with the DD coil of course, and I didn't just pick up this hobby yesterday. Can't use it for a few hours and have any valid opinion on it.

I own both the F-75 and an Omega with the 11" DD coil. In head-to-head testing the Omega matches my F-75 (not LTD) in sheer depth in mildly mineralized ground. I have not logged enough time with the Omega to give you an actual field test comparison. However, I have taken the Omega on two very short hunts at locations where the F-75 had to be dialed down due to significant EMI. Unlike Shenandoah I have been able to dial up the sensitivity to 99 and still maintain stability as long as the coil was in motion. With sensitivity set to 99 the Omega chatters when sitting still; however, EMI is mitigated when the coil is in motion. I also confirmed Tom Dankowski's finding that discrimination of 16 is the magic number for knocking out the "grunting" of small iron. My first two short hunts with the Omega produced one deep silver rosey, a 1935 Walking Liberty Half, and a silver "war" nickel, along with three rings and the usual clad. Unfortunately, its 18 degrees outside and the ground is now frozen so it will be a while before I get the Omega back in action. Nevertheless, based on my initial two hunts I am very optimistic regarding the Omega's capabilities.
