Can I post some more silver and gold? :detecting:

On my last hunt of the year in December I tried for gold but only got silver. This site had the worst EMI I have ever encountered so my settings were pretty mellow. Couldn't run any positive threshold settings on the F5 so I raised my gain a little and dropped my threshold way down into the negative numbers. Recovered over $14 in clad and these two silver peices; a cross and a coyote. Then promptly caught my wife's cold or whatever the crud was that she shared with me

Felt better last week and Sunday morning I got out for two hours with the Golden/Cleansweep combo and came home with a nice silver bracelet and another diamond ring. I used that detector because (one) I didn't have much time and wanted to cover as much ground as I could, and (two) I hadn't had it out in a while and wanted to hunt it. The bracelet hit way down in the foil range and was heavy enough that I thought it was white gold, but looking through the eyepeice showed "925" and a "Made in Italy" stamp. My pictures don't do it justice, its a very nice peice with raised lettering stating "I Love You" that runs across it several times. It reads a solid 19 TID number on the F5.

The ring is a 10KT diamond engagement style ring. Not the highest quality as the stone is a small one. The stone setting itself is what you see in the prongs. Still a very nice looking ring. Some lady is missing this one. It also hit in the foil range. It reads a 27 TID number on the F5. My picture sucks but its the best I can do.

Also found two other rings but they were junk. One had me going as it was a wide band and all I saw before I put it in my pouch was the inside of a wide yellow ring with three holes under where the stones would be. That was my first target and for the rest of the hunt I was hoping that would be a good find but nope, when I got home and emptied my pouch and sorted treasure from trash, it showed to be junk.

Great Finds Mike!

Question: I have an F75 and just got a G2 for Christmas. Almost all my hunting time is at school and sports fields and grassy areas of parks. Although I have found a good amount of jewelry with the F75, lately I have been looking at the Tesoro site because of their 3 x 18 coil and wondering if that hooked up to a Golden would help me cover a lot more ground than the 11" F75 & G2 coil. Is it a big difference? Will the Golden with the big coil find jewelry as well as the F75 & G2 -- What about the speed of the Tesoro, can it be swept as fast as the F72/G2?

Thanks,
Bart

Hi Bart,
I normally use the Golden/Cleansweep cruiser as a scout and clad hunter. I don't usually use it to hunt jewelry with. In this particular instance, I used it at a proven jewelry site that I keep cleaned out and I grabbed it because in the time I had to hunt I wouldn't have been able to cover all of it with the F5. I'll still have to hunt it next time with the F5 because the Golden/Cleansweep combo will have missed any of the really small stuff.

Yes, the Golden/Cleansweep combo will allow you to cover more ground in less time. However, it is a slow sweep unit and will lose low conductors if swept too fast. No, the Golden/Cleansweep combo cannot be swung as fast as the F75 or G2 for gold jewelry, however, it can be swept at a normal walking pace for high conductors.

The Golden/Cleansweep is very nose heavy, however I prefer it over the DFX/Bigfoot combo because of the recovery speed, coil characteristics, and ease of use.
Depth is only maybe 4" quarters, 3" dimes at regular walking speeds.

That help?

Mike,

Thanks for the detail on the Tesoro/Cleansweep combo. Looks like I'll keep plugging away with the F75 & G2 in my quest for more gold & platinum jewelry
