Ran into my first problem since starting to use a sov gt. Can slaw. Not sure what to do other than give up on these infested sights or go into the scrap aluminum business. Biggest problem is depending on the type the sov gives anywhere from a low small gold type tone to a high coin type tone. The larger pieces can be identified by size but then again this could be also be a chain laying nice and flat. I was hitting the stuff literally every ten feet or so in the area I chose to hunt this Sunday. The added digging wore me out after only an hour and half. I can usually go 3 plus hours. I am hoping this can slaw condition is temporary as most beach conditions are. It is somewhat buoyant and generally shallow so my hope is some erosion might thin it out just need a decent erosion event of some sort.
The only solution I can think of is start raising the disc in these areas and call it a coin and sliver hunt and maybe larger gold. Another I have found is to move to the edges of the most densely populated beach areas where I have made some of my better finds any ways. Any other potential solutions are welcome. IDing the stuff by tone alone seems unlikely.
