I found this detecting a huge pile of dirt that was excavated from downtown Salt Lake City. The pioneers first settled here in 1847 & of course brought all of their belongings with them. If you can't tell from the picture it's a glazed stoneware type "cup" with a pouring spout. Looks like it holds about 6 oz or so. On the front and near the bottom it reads "England" where I assume it was made. Mid way on the front it appears to read "Dattersen" and right underneath that it appears to read "Round"? I posted this on the "Relic" forum. 100 lookers but no input. If any of you want to through in your opinions I'd like to hear from you!
 
crucible cup to me. Can't really see into the bottom to tell if there are fire marks. I have several that were used to assay gold in. That is my best guess.. Nice find. HHing.
 
Might be a crucible but I don't see any fire marks, I dont recall ever seeing one that has glazing like this, and don't recall seeing one with the manufacturer stamped on one especially from England. Of course I could be totally off base. Any thoughts on how old? Thanks for the input!
