Can Someone Tell Me...

It's a Common Flicker. It is in the woodpecker family.

Thanks Mike! What a georgous bird! Common Flicker huh? I've not seen one before finding this picture on the Internet. Are there any in Michigan and, if so, where might I find them?

Before my heart attack, my spiritual vision was alive but not like it is now. Now I see everything in a 'New' light, as though I had never seen it before. Many times I've looked at the picture of this bird and could see the uniqueness but couldn't see the incredible beauty God had created the way I envisioned now. God is indeed awesome! I'm so grateful He has given me another lease on life and opened my eyes to the beauty of His world around me.

Very pretty bird, indeed. Glad you are doing better, Martin. My grandma once told me that she was thankful GOD loves us enough to be extreme even if it means a tough lesson.

Hi Martin.....I just saw one in my Dogwood tree pecking on a branch a few days ago and was the first time I had seen it in my tree! I knew it was a Woodpecker but didn't know the name of the bird and, yes, it is beautiful! God is Awesome in His creations for mankind to see! May God Bless and keep you on the healing and healthy side of life! Amen! Thanks Mike for giving us the name of this lovely bird! Ma Betty

Also known as the Northern Flicker.
Here is a good link for ya. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Flicker

We All Know The Picture, On The Left, To Be A Wood Duck But What's The One On The Right??? Surely They're From The Same Family?

Yep, Northern Flicker. They used to be distinguished as yellow and red shafted flicker because of the shaft of the tail feathers and location. The pictures you have second If I'm not mistaken are of the same bird. The Mandarin Duck is a beautiful erratic that shows up from time to time in the US. Its an Asian/European bird. Great photos...
