How bout a Stars and Rays Shield nickel... Dug about 6 inches deep with the old Ace 250. They only made this coin from 1866-1867. I am happy to find this one. Even though it is in bad shape. Still had enough detail left to ID it. Thanks Garrett for making a solid Coin shooter....

Good find; I know you were stoked. The oldest nickel I've found was a 1902 Liberty Head.

Since the Ace 250 is a metal detector, it stands to reason that it finds metal. That in itself is not revolutionary, it's just that it's pretty good at it.
What is more obvious, and relevant, is the site you took it to appears to be a good'un. Once hopes you have plans to return.

Too bad about the condition on that nickel, but that is how they usually look after a long time in the ground. It's completely normal.
I'm always a little suspicious when someone pops up with an old nickel... and it is still shiny and smooth!

Congrats, You will find more with your 250.

Ugly coin huh. My ace found one. Also found 1870 IH, 1839 large cent and a 1700 Chinese coin. Mine has found lots of coins in the 1800's. Your Ace will find many more. Be glad you live in an area were you can find those coins.

Keep posting and showing pictures. We all enjoy them.
