can you get a 11" DD coil for the F-5?

I seem to be getting as the others.... in the 8" range so far.... most are only 4-6" in the areas I am working These are the Copper penny or silver dimes. So far I can't say I am getting any deeper, but probably I need to 'work' it harder with the 2 dials/ Sens and Thres.!
I need to know if the 11" is producing better as well. The 10" is sweet in trash!..

Your results with the 11" DD coil should be the same as the results of the 11" DD coil on the Tek. Omega 8000. They both are related circuit wise.

Go over to the Tek. forum and do a search on the 11" DD.

Mr. Bill

Understand that I have a vested interest in both Fisher & Tekentics.

My choice betwee the F5 & the Omega 8000 would be the F5. It's less expencive, and it has a greater range of manual adjustments on it. I feel the hardware is a tad stronger also.

I carry both in stock & the optional coils.

Mr. Bill

Correct, to a degree. They had push on connectors on some Omega's & screw on connectors the latter ones. Depending when made.

On the F5 there push on.

Bill

Thanks Bill... Mine is a push on type... (62) circuit. ???
I wondered why the Omega coil is stronger and deeper than the 11" fisher coil???... Thanks for your help...

Rich, the F5's 11"DD coil and the Greek Tek series 11" DD coil are basically the same coil. The feature set between the F5 and the Omega are a bit different but basic performance is really about the same. I prefer to use the stock coil on the F5 over the 11" DD mostly due to the ergonomics. It just doesn't swing real well for long periods of time. But when I need it, I use it and it hunts as well as the Omega with the 11" coil, or should I say, the Omega with the 11" DD coil hunts as well as the F5 with the 11"DD coil.

Thanks... all is perfectly clear! Great help! I like the 10" standard, too, but will consider the 11" as I accumulate $$$!

well if i get tired of my 1200 series and i have'nt yet i think i might resort to a f-5 if it will get the same game like the o-8000 with a DD 11" coil do like the S handle design better and set up!

I haven't tried actual hunting... Creeks are still high, but tests well on my test nuggett,,, a 1 grammer, and kills the hot rocks/black sand well.
No, It might not be as hot as the X-70, but again, I am only using stock coil.. and have the DD 6" on the Terra. The 10" ellip. seems to have very similar response to the F5. These are my quick tests.. anyone else?

To me the positives of the 11" compared to the stock coil on my F5, in my moderate soil, are:

Superior separation - even though the 11" is a bigger coil it easily outshines the stock concentric in the trash.

Better depth - not a huge difference, maybe 1/2 to 1" on average.

More ground coverage - it's a bigger coil, so it covers more ground in the same amount of time.

The negatives to me are:

Worse ergonomically - the 11" coil makes the F5 seem slightly bottom-heavy. Not a big deal, but the stock coil swings noticably smoother.

Expensive - At around $170, the 11" is a pricey extra.

Pinpointing is easy and accurate with either coil.

My opinion is that the 11" makes the F5 a better detector, but the difference I've seen is not jaw-dropping as I've read some people say about how the 11" transforms the Omega.

The F5 is an excellent detector in its' own right, but I woudn't buy the 11" expecting it to give the F5 the power of a F75.

Great summary! Thanks for that!
Put the $$ towards the F75 ...

Rich, money towards either detector would be well spent.

The F75 is a more powerful detector, and the one to pick for getting the deepest.

But the F5 has a lot to offer too. You give up depth (Nasa Tom says 1 1/2 to 2" on coins and that feels about right), but in other aspects I think the F5 is the equal of the F75. In some respects the F5 is better, in my opinion. I like the F5 interface better, and it seems to be a little better shielded from EMI.
