Found field hunting where I've been told militia practiced or trained.Seems solid...iron and approx 21/2" in diameter.What do you think?? Thanks Mclucky
 
Maybe, Set up a electrolysis and cook the rust off and see if there is a seam or other markings on it.............Mark
 
2.5" would be small for a cannonball. Theres is a few guns way down in the small calibre like Wiard Rifle. But being round, it looks like its just a big ole grape from a navy stand.
 
Found a long way from any really navigable water.Less than a mile from a small river though.
 
HAVE BEEN USING NAVAL JELLY still soaking will post new pics when its done
