Hi Andrew, Thanks for your post on the top brands of GPS. I read your info. about them and I still have a question about which unit would be right for my use in heavy canopy and rough terrain. I am leaning towards the ifinder. Most of my work is in the forest and deep canyons with alot of canopy. I am also looking at the Garmin 60CS but still think the ifinder will be the best choice. Am I right.Thank you for your help.

I didn't have a chance to play a lot with the 60CS so, I'm not absolutely sure.
My impression is that the latest models from Garmin (including the 60CS) have much improved reception. I still don't think that they match iFinder but, they are much closer than they used to be.

Thank you Andrew for your reply. What mapping softwear do you suggest for the ifinder?

Thank you,

Only maps from Lowrance MapCreate can be loaded to the iFinder. Their topo maps are OK
MapCreate is limited when it comes to manipulating user data - waypoints, tracks, events and routes.
For that, I use (and sell) TTQV. OziExplorer (my competition) is another option worth checking out.

Sure.
My website is www.canadianmaps.ca
My email for map / software sales and info is andrew@canadianmaps.ca
Note that I am not selling Lowrance maps.
Also, before you buy, make sure that you do like the software. There is a free, fully functional, time limited demo avaliable for download from my website. Yup, I'm a bad salesman. I rather don't make a sale than have a customer tell me that "it's not what I wanted / expected".
