Cans &*%$^# Cans ^&#@$% Cans

Indian Wars relic hunter here. Deus newbie, V4, running Hot program.

Hit a military spot covered in cans. Cans are great to help find these spots, not so great once it's found. Tin cans with lead solder. Oriented correctly, the round tops cut off by the soldiers give off a sweet signal - a consistent 60. flattened cans are shallow and and run 90+. Pieces run at 5 and below.

Don't want to dig so many cans but do want the "good" iron artifacts.

How would you hunt it?

No easy solution, one needs to dig everything if you dont want too miss the decent targets,it may be a nightmare but alas as yet no detector has been invented that will help in a situation like yours.

Drag the area with a powerful magnet first
Rake and powerful magnet are a trash hunters best friend

I've done that.
a lot of work, but it helped.
Finally reverted sifting...

I would try slowing down. I know the Deus can be run both super fast and super slow with great results. In my high iron forts I swing the Deus slow and you'll begin to hear the difference. And by slow I do mean slow. Take time, but all good things take time.

Of course those old cans with the lead seal you stand a chance of missing those musket balls and miniballs. Heck you run the rick of missing many keepers at an old fort site, but if you're looking strictly for the good stuff, slow is the key.

I say that in a joking way some sites are just like that where you got to dig nine million junks targets for one good one .
