CAT heavey equipment ignition key

I found this key about 5" down in our town park. I cleaned it up and typed the info 5P8500 into Google and most of the hits were for eBay where the key for goes for two or three bucks. Any idea why people want an ignition key? Do these keys fit a lot of ignition switches? It goes into the collection, not interested in selling it, but I am interested in why people would buy it.

Hi Erick,The key you found will fit any CAT machine .I work as an opperator and use the same key. The newer style keys are black and have CAT on them cool find, HH
