Cen Tech 180 Meter.

Very easy to make a 180 meter and cheap.The internal pot and electronics remind me of the Blackburn Avenger one of the best 180 meters ever made..A quick air test this may be the biggest bang for the buck ever. 180 for a dime,quarter,177 for a zinc and 146 for nickles.HH Ron

Jim the Sovereign coil only have four wires pins 5 and 6 are open.The coil male connector at your detector pins 5 and 6 are active.Any very low ohm meter will give a meter variation just like the digital meter when these pins are connected to the negative and positive leads.I think 5 is positive.and 6 negative.The Cen-Tech is a dead ringer for the Avenger heck I've had two of these and the electronics in these are clones except the dial. Just an inside bench mark with air performance with the Cen Tech may be the same or close. Again very simple only two wires from pin #5 and #6 are going to the negative and positive test wires at the meter.

Neil they cut part of the circuit board to dislocated the on off switch and added another.The difficult part is adding the in line connectors both female and male so you don't compromise your coil line.Again the insides very close to the Avenger which gives a great lock on with a wiggle for deep targets.You have to use a battery.The Avenger's nine volt battery would all most last a season.

Looking at the pictures of the Red Cen Tech multimeter it looks as if there has been a hole drilled in the back of the case and a knob installed. I assume this was for an extension to the internal trim pot for the adjustment of the voltage read out, for a given target. If I am correct, what type of knob did you use and how did you install it. I bought one of these for $2.99 as a backup, now I think it might just become a meter

The insides of the Cen -Tech is much like the Blackburn Avenger.Reverse engineering on someones part would be my quess.Even though the same model the Cen Techs are a little different. I modified so the internal pot could be adjusted 180 for a quarter from the out side.This meter has been tested in my coin garden and gives the same exact preformance of the Sunrays,Blackburns,and Minelab 180 meters that I have used.The Cen Tech required a few mods but this makes a 180 meter very afordable.Yea you can find these meters for a cheap price but the sellers get you with shipping averager price over all $7.00 and high as $12.00.With the hardware, connectors,and labor I see a great 180 meter for under $40.00. I predict you will see more of these in the future.HH Ron

Well the the connections and making an external adjustment seems simple enough. When I get done with the 5 other projects, I may just on this one.
