Central FL park huntin'

So, while some of you folks are out there drowning in silver this is the sort of thing we're digging around here.

From this weekend
5 Quarters
1 10 Piastres Egyptian coin
17 Dimes2 Nickels
74 Pennies
Oil lamp wick adjuster
15 pull tabs
2 chunks of copper
1 melted can
2 zipper pulls
3 buttons
1 9mm casing
1 fuse
1 nut
1 bolt
1 washer
1 Fourth of July ring
1 big metal ????

That new Ultimate Coil hits copper like nobodies business. When I've tested it on silver same thing. Still gotta get to the beach! This is from modernish parks but one is built on old ground. We do hit a nice relic or two from time to time. Old silver around here is as common as a sincere honest politician but I keep lookin' for more.

I've hit my fair share of wheats and a few old silvers but they are tough to find. I'm just north of Orlando. This was from morning hunts in a place with lot's of shade. Trying to beat the heat!

We visited the Orlando area recently and detected in some seemingly older Parks

No Wheat No Silver (did find 10K Gold Ring on our visit to Daytona Beach)

You work hard for the Finds:thumbup:

Congrats

I hear you about the lack of silver finds in your neck of the woods. We winter at Sebring FL about 60 miles south of you. I have talked to several metal detectorists in that area and they all says the same about silver coins being very scarce. One fella told me that in 4 years of hunting he had yet to find a silver coin. The town dates to the middle of the 19Th century, there should be some old silver around there.

That area is nothing but sand and a lot of what they call Sugar Sand, a sand so fine it looks just like sugar. This sand is very loose and a coin dropped in it would disappear almost immediately. We saw a area where they were digging and they were down over 30 feet and wasn't to the bottom of the sand yet. We have family who live in North Central Illinois on the Mississippi River and the soil is very sandy there. A dropped newer copper coin can be found at 8" to 9" deep in that soil, can you imagine how deep a silver coin would sink in that really loose sand in Central Florida. Might help explain why they are so scarce. Rick IL.

I hit a park recently south of Sebring and got 2 wheaties. I plan on going back because you know what they say, if there are wheaties theres silver. My knee is giving me problems so i am giving it a rest before working the ground some more. TMAN...
